How Will You Celebrate National Doughnut Week?

National Doughnut week is nearly here! After some delays due to Covid, this year's Doughnut week is now being held from the 10th July - 18th July. The week is all about raising money for The Children's Trust, the UK's leading charity for children with brain injury. This incredible charity supports children recovering from serious incidents or illness at their specialist centre in Surrey, as well as through a community service team. You can find out all about their wonderful work here and how you can support them if you wish.

To celebrate National Doughnut Week here at Secret Yarn Stash we thought we'd bring you some super fun doughnut designs that we absolutely love!

Doughnut Buddies are the work of Rachel at Oodles of Crochet and we just love them! From Peacocks, to Pumpkins, to Panda's - she's got doughnut buddies inspired by just about everything!

Here's a few patterns that we think would work great with YarnArt Jeans Plus:

This Doughnut Buddy Hook Holder is a great to keep by your side so you don't lose your hook!

With YarnArt Jeans Plus in Ecru, you've got a beautiful base with which to add any doughnut topping of your choice - there's the pastel pink similar to the above, or maybe you could create a chocolate covered doughnut with the gorgeous mink colour. As for sprinkles, turn out that basket of scraps you have and use them up!

Another pattern that would work great is this Doughnut Buddy Giraffe:

This would make a lovely gift, and what's more, if you make the chocolate covered doughnut then you'll already have the Ecru and Mink colours in your basket meaning you just need the Gold or Pastel yellow and you're good to go! wink

If doughnuts are not your thing, then maybe we can entice you with some alternative bakes in the form of biscuits!

> These classic custard creams look good enough to eat and are a great if you are trying to stay away from the real things!! You can find the free pattern at Twinkie Chan.

> We've also got another classic, the Jammy Dodger! Make a much less sticky version with this free pattern from a Boy and Bunting.

> And finally, if knitting is more your thing, then these chocolate chip cookies might be just the thing for you! You can grab the pattern for these at ODDKnit.

We hope you have a lot of fun celebrating National Doughnut Week - and we'd love to see any of your bakery inspired makes in our Secret yarn Stash Facebook Group!
